Louis ~ 1 Year Old!

Louis turned ONE YEAR this past Friday the 21st! He is so much fun to have around, he has been the perfect addition to our family. I can't wait to watch him continue to blossom. (not that I wish time to go even faster!) 

He has 4 teeth and two more peeking through. He is saying a handful of words. 

"uh oh"

"hello" 

"go go go" 

"who's that" ("hssssat")

"dada"

"papa"

"tickle tickle" ("ttt ttttt") while wiggling his little fingers like we do right before we tickle him :-) 

He is pretty close to walking, he stands up for long periods of time, but hasn't taken that first step independently. I am sure he could if he tried. He is finally sleeping through the night! He has gone through phases in the past where he sleeps through the night. I am hoping this time it sticks forever! He mostly takes two naps a day. But, with life being so crazy lately, he often only gets one. He is still nursing (no end in sight!) and has had some cows milk and seems to be fine with it. He loves all food that he has tried so far except watermelon and cantaloupe! Mama doesn't like melons either. 

This project of monthly snapshots with his giraffe has been so much fun! I only wish I had done this with Emerick :-(

Emerick goes to Preschool!

I cannot believe my baby is headed to school! These past (nearly) 4 years have flown by, and I have loved watching Emerick blossom into the most amazing little boy I know. He has a heart of gold, and is so outgoing and just a fun little person to be around.

May all your dreams come true little man!

Louis ~ 11 months

One more month till he's 1! His personality is to die for, and I think that shows in this monthly snapshot. He just cut his first top tooth, and 3 more top teeth are also about to come through. He has been pretty fussy while teething and needs to wear a bib all day long again because of the slobber ;-)

Life can change so quick..

So much has changed for our family in the past 2 months, I wasn't sure if I would ever blog about it. I am not really sure that anyone even follows this blog anymore, and people that may read it probably already know about it.

At 4:30 in the morning on May 29th, 2012 we were lucky to awake just in time, literally. Only a few minutes more and we wouldn't have made it out. As I ran up the back stairs, a sleeping Emerick in my arms, the fire just to my left- I fell, for a moment I thought I was actually on fire! I ended up with a small burn on my left shoulder (basically like a bad sunburn with a small, dime size blister) The fire was SO hot and so loud. I don't remember hearing any smoke alarms, only the loud sound of the fire itself!

 The home where we were living, and everything we have ever owned was gone in a matter of minutes. It took nearly 50 fire fighters 1 hour to get the fire under control.  I think we have all been in a daze ever since it happened. It doesn't seem real. It is the kind of thing that isn't supposed to happen to us. But it did.

On a happier note ~ we are about to move into this house. The first house we will actually own. Finally homeowners :-) 

Emerick Spidey!

Emerick is obsessed with wearing his Spiderman costume lately. Most days he likes to wear it whenever we go somewhere. Before we get out of the car, he puts the mask on and says "everybody is gonna say - "look! there's spiderman!"" and they do....and he loves it :-) here are some iPhone photos of Emerick Spidey in action! 

Louis ~ 10 Months

 10 Months old!!

Louis started crawling a couple of weeks ago, and he also pulls himself up to his feet on everything. He is all over the place now! He has quite the temper and knows what he wants, when he wants it - and you better give it to him ;-)

He is still not sleeping through the nights most nights. He loves food and has started eating mostly table foods cut into small bits. He also just started feeding himself with his fingers a couple of weeks ago! I am not sure why he waited so long to do that!

He is still wearing 12/18 month clothes, and size 3 diapers.

Louis ~ 9 Months

Louis turned 9 months old yesterday! He is still not crawling, but he will pull himself up on the furniture to his knees. His stats...

Weight: 20lbs (65%)

Height: 28 1/2 in (75%)

Head: 47.8 (98%!)

Louis ~ 8 Months

My sweet little Lou is already 8 months old!

He has two teeth now, but you probably won't notice them when you see him because he almost always has his tongue sticking out!
He is still perfectly content just sitting on the floor playing with toys. He prefers this over an excersaucer, or walker. I've seen him roll from his tummy to his back one time, but i've still never seen him roll from his back to his tummy. Probably because he is never laying down! He has been sitting up since he was 4.5 months old. Also, because he is still sleeping in his rock-n-play sleeper!! We are planning to finally move him to the crib in the next couple of weeks.
He still wakes up once in the middle of the night, then around 5am, and goes back to sleep until 8 or 9am.
He makes me smile!

84 Years

There are exactly 84 years between Great Grandma Lois and Louis.

Louis ~ 7 months

A little late, but I am finally getting around to blogging Lou's 7 month snapshots! I think he has grown a lot in the past month, and he has also started to act much older and less "baby" like - if that makes sense. 

He is starting to wear  more 18 month size clothes, which is so crazy to me. I have no idea how much he weighs or anything, he won't go back to the Dr. until June for his 9 month checkup. 

He is eating "solids" for breakfast and dinner now, and loving it. He eats fruits and veggies, no cereal because of his constipation issues. His bottom two teeth are about to pop through, I can see them bulging under his gums.

 I took Emerick out in Grammy and Papa's yard to take a few pictures of him as we were leaving there the other day.

He is SO silly, always trying to get a laugh (especially trying to entertain and make his baby brother laugh!) and I love that these photos capture him exactly how he is at 3 1/2 years old.

All In One Day

Yesterday, Lou not only learned how to drink a bottle, but hold it all by himself... all in one day!

Luckily I have only ever had to leave him for a maximum of about 4 hours at a time. Usually, Grammy or James have had to basically force him to take the bottle. He fought it hard, lots of tears.  Once he started eating some "solid" foods, I never even bothered to bring the bottle for him to try when I left him. Just his baby food, and knowing he would be okay to wait for me to get home for milk.

Last night I had to visit the ER, and James was at school. Grammy came over to stay with the boys, and she tried the bottle before she put Lou to bed. He took it right away, and even held it by himself as if he has been a bottle drinker from day one. This makes me so happy! Not only will I not have to worry about him so much when I am away for a few hours, but starting tonight he got an extra few ounces of my milk before bed.

Here's to hoping this helps him sleep through the night finally!!

Off to School...

Emerick has had it on his mind lately that he is going to leave. He will put his shoes on and say "I am going to walk to Grammy's house", or "I am going to go out on the road." He always tells us that he will be careful and watch for cars and that he will be fine.


This morning I went to an open house at the pre school he will be going to in the Fall, and I had just finished telling him about it. I was sitting at my desk and noticed he put his backpack on, and then his shoes. Luckily my camera was sitting right next to me because he then proceeded to walk out the back door (which was already open) and said "Bye Mama! I am going to walk to school" I said "Bye, have fun!" and followed him to see if he was really going to leave......


Sure enough, he really thought he was going!
