|happy halloween!!|

I love Halloween. One of the things I was most looking forward to when we found out we were having an October baby was dressing him up on Halloween, and also just the fact that he would be brand new for all of the winter holidays which I love. In so many ways Emerick is my little dream come true :)

Em couldn't just have 1 costume for his very first Halloween, so we bought him 2.

This picture is for my Mom. I bought Emerick's Christmas Eve outfit today, I couldn't resist it. You will just have to wait to see the rest of the outfit until after Christmas!! It's sooo cute.

I think he looks a lot like his Dad in this picture, but with blue eyes? That would be cool, we are still hoping for those blue eyes!!!! {click on picture too see his eyes bigger, they look pretty blue.}

Emerick has grown out of his first outfit :( I feel really sad about it. It is a "preemie" outfit (well, "up to 7 lbs" is the size) but still.....it was so cute on him, and I am sad that he is already growing up so fast!!! Here is a photo of Emerick in the little outfit he has outgrown. This photo was taken on day 3 of his life.

He has slept in his crib 2 nights in a row now. Although he does sleep propped up on the Boppy in the crib. ;) Here is a picture - just hanging out in his crib.

Emerick is a busy baby. When he is awake he is constantly moving. I kind of feel like I was cheated out of having a tiny little helpless newborn. He pretty much held his own head up from the moment he popped out. He really doesn't act his age! This video is for our east coast family, so you can get to know him a little bit better than with a still photo, of course until you meet him in the flesh very soon.

Last night at 2:00AM someone tried to break into our place!!!!!!!!! We gotta get out of Hel-LA.

So here is what happened, it was really odd and we still can't figure out what the girl was doing. Yes it was a girl trying to get in!

A little after 2AM, we were in bed (not sleeping though, because well...we don't sleep these days!) James heard something at our door, so he jumped up and looked out the peep hole, and saw a woman trying to key her way in. It was weird because it seemed like she was actually using a key to get in, or some sort of object to pick the lock I guess. She tried for a few minutes and then walked down the hall to the neighbors apartment, and though we couldn't see from the peep hole, we could hear that she was trying to get into the apartment next to ours. (We live in a hotel style, indoor apartment building.) She was out of view of our peep hole for quite a while. A while later I was looking through the peep hole and I saw her walk past our door, and then I could hear her exit the side of the building by the pool. So we ran into our bedroom to look out the window to see her, and we saw her walk out, and get into a car that was parked with its engine running waiting for her. It was weird because she was dressed formal, really fancy.

We finally carved our pumpkins yesterday! Not very original I don't think, but still cute! I think they represent our new family of 3 pretty well ;)

My sister came to visit for the evening, so we hung out and went to dinner at Chevy's, then to Ikea and Barnes and Noble. I had to buy "New Moon" since I finally started reading the Twilight Saga, and I bought Emerick a book too. "The Legend of Spookley the Square Pumpkin".

These CDs contain all of the pictures of Emerick we have taken to date. Each CD contains at least 100 photos, so you can do the math. It's ridiculous. I have so many prints to order.

Everyone should have got their announcement in the mail by now, so hopefully I am not ruining the surprise for anyone. I ordered 50 prints, and thought I would have extras but I actually ran out. If you didn't get one, it is not because we forgot you, just because we ran out! So here it is for anyone who did not get one.

I love Emerick's hands. He does the cutest things with them, especially while he sleeps. Not to mention, his hands are awkwardly large, they look out of place compared to the rest of him!! Here are some photos of his hand positions while sleeping. I especially love this first one, taken when he was just 2 days old. He "prays" like that in his sleep a lot.

Also, today would have been my Aunt Laura's birthday. She passed away in June 2007. I know she would have loved to meet Emerick.

|picky sleeper|

As I've mentioned before, Emerick hates his crib. He is a pretty picky sleeper in my opinion. If he could have it his way, he would sleep in your arms, or next to you in bed. I will feed him, and have him in a deep sleep, but as soon as I put him down, he is wide awake crying within minutes. Night time seems to be a little easier, luckily, and he usually goes down in his swing or papasan for his 2-3 hour stretches. During the day and in the evenings, he seems to have a problem being put down. I think I found a place he will stay asleep for a couple of hours though, his adorable moses basket! He has slept in it 2 evenings in a row for a couple of hours at a time. Not sure what we will do when he quickly outgrows it though.

|webbed toes|

One of the things Emerick inherited from his Daddy, is his webbed toes! On both feet, the second and third toes are stuck together. I remember when I was first dating James and he told me he had webbed toes I thought he was so weird, I didn't believe him. I had never seen such a thing! James' Mom had always told him that it was only inherited maternally, so needless to say I was SHOCKED in the delivery room when we discovered Emerick's toes were webbed! Actually it isn't just the webbing that is from James, Emerick's feet are a miniature replica of his Dad's. At least James never has to question his paternity :)

Emerick was all about having his picture taken yesterday. He even came up with his own pose (the last picture on this post) he posed himself that way, (Well, I helped a little just to strategically place his left leg so that his "goods" weren't showing! I should really save the pictures of him in this adorable Christmas hat, for at least after Thanksgiving, but I couldn't help it. It is just so cute! We bought it yesterday at Old Navy in case anyone wants one like it.

ALL we did today was take naps. I was up for about an hour total today, to change diapers, and I gave Emerick a bath and took a shower myself. I fed him laying down in bed, and we were sleeping the rest of the day. It was amazing and highly recommended! James got a case of food poisoning last night :( He is feeling a lot better now though. We are up now, and thinking about what to eat for dinner, Emerick on the other hand is still passed out in our bed! He LOVES sleeping in our bed with us. I don't let him sleep there at night time, so todays nap day was special treatment, I just hope he doesn't think that means he gets to sleep with us tonight.

I just went in to check on Emerick, and this is what I found! He is so cute when he sleeps, I love his hands, he always does cute things with his big hands. Here are some other sleepy pictures from today as well. I snapped these photos with Emerick's camera. Yes, he already has his own camera. He got it for modeling for the "Look Good in Pictures" series. It is a Nikon Coolpix point and shoot, and it is actually a really nice little camera if anyone is looking to buy a good point and shoot.

If anyone has any tips on how to get a baby to sleep in their crib, please share! We cannot get him to sleep in his crib, from night 1 at home. I don't know what it is! He sleeps in his swing or his papasan chair. It is kind of frusterating. I really want him to sleep in his crib.

...And still squishy, and lets me bend him in half! I really wish I would have hired a professional photographer to photograph him during his first week. Oh well, maybe next time.

I took him to the Pedi today, and he is back to his birth weight. He was exactly 9 lbs 11 oz today.

I realize that all Mommies are biased and think their baby is the cutest, but I REALLY think that I have one of the cutest little peanuts around!

|pumpkin patch number 2|

Today we took Emerick to the Pumpkin Patch AGAIN, this time with my Mom and Dad. We tried to go to a different patch than we went to last week, but there was a really mean lady working there that was talking crap to us for having a tiny baby at the Pumpkin Patch. I seriously wanted to tell her off. Anyways, we left that Pumpkin Patch, and went back to the same one as last week. It's a cuter patch anyways. Emerick has a couple of other cute Haloween-ie outfits, so we might have to go to the Pumpkin patch again!!!

Today Emerick met his Grandpa Richard for the first time. We bought Emerick a San Francicso Giants onesie for the occasion since it is my dad's favorite team. James says it is the only day in Emerick's life that he is allowed to wear anything Giants. Haha.
