first weeks

emerick is growing sooo fast. he is nearly 1 and a half years old. he learns something new everyday, does something new everyday, says something new everyday. i love him so much, i don't even know how to begin to describe the feeling, it really is a feeling only a mom can know.

i can't sleep tonight, and so I dug out all of my CDs full of .jpegs from Emerick's first weeks of life, trying to remember what he was like those first days. I found some photos that were never edited, photos that I had just looked over. so here are some old photos turned new. enjoy.

Emerick's bracelet

My Mom keeps complaining that I don't blog enough, that it has been over a week since my last blog post, so I figured I would blog something that I have wanted to blog for quite sometime. I know this is going to make you crazy Mom! (and especially Samantha & Megan)
--------------------------------------------------

When James and I were married in 2006, there is one thing we knew for sure - we wanted kids. We often talked about our future children, referring to them by the names we had already chosen. We talked about our first born, always referring to him as a boy named Emerick. We loved him before he was even conceived, and when we found out we were having a boy, it was really no surprise. Of course we were having a boy, the little boy named Emerick that we had talked about for all of those years, was finally on his way.

On our honeymoon, we had an adorable little bracelet made for the boy we hoped to have in the future. A mexican on the streets of Ensenada made the bracelet pictured below. We also had him make one for the little girl we hoped, and still hope will join our family in the future. A baby girl whose name will remain a secret to everyone but James and I, until the day she is (hopefully/maybe) here.

chit chat

It seems like every day Emerick repeats a new word! He will be speaking (more than two word!) sentences before we know it. This means we are really trying to make an effort to watch our potty mouths ;-)

Emerick also turned 16 months old yesterday. I find it really hard to think of fun and active things to do with him when it is so cold outside. We have taken him to Barnes and Noble several times lately and he just loves it. He loves books, so we just let him explore the kid area, and read books off the shelves. They also have a Thomas the Train set, that he of course loves.

Some of Emerick's new words:

boat
night night (nye nye)
juice
again
ouch (oww)
done
eat

Character

Emerick must notice that his Daddy sits in his iJoy massage chair a lot. Yesterday he climbed up in the chair, and said "I Dada" and then laughed his little laugh that he does when he thinks he is being really funny. He is turning into such a little character!

disclaimer: these photos were not actually taken during this moment ;-)

snuggles

Emerick has never been a snuggly baby, so the rare moments when he stays snuggled on the couch with us for more than 5 seconds is a big deal. He is usually up faster than I can grab the camera, but not today. He stayed snuggled on the couch with Daddy for a good 5 minutes.

Lolly

Today Emerick got his very own lollipop. He was in heaven as he sat on the back steps and wiggled and danced, and repeated "mmm...mmmmm" over and over again.

If you are wondering why he is wearing a rainbow sweater, you may remember THIS POST. The sweater was worn by myself and many of my cousins.

{baby girl}

I photographed twin girls yesterday, and I really feel like I want a daughter now :-/

haha!

On another note, I think we have decided to go ahead and trim emerick's bangs. Eeek!

to trim or not to trim?

emerick has bangs. long bangs that cover his beautiful eyes. i am constantly pushing them out of his face, even though he does not seem to mind them being there. we don't want to cut his hair, we want to let it grow for a while and see how it looks. i just can't decide if i should trim the bangs a bit, or suffer through this awkward bang stage!!!

please chime in, i would love to hear your thoughts. if you don't know how to comment, just click where it says comments underneath this post, you do not have to be a member of blogger.

one and a quarter

Emerick turned 15 months old on Saturday, and yesterday was his 15 month Dr. checkup.

His stats:
weight: 28.6lbs (90%)
height: 32in (75%)
head: 49cm (90%)

He is walking like a pro now and trying to run, which makes for lots of noggin bonks and falls. He can identify his nose, ears, belly, and sometimes tongue.

Some of Emerick's words:
dada
mama (he usually calls me MOM!)
ball
wee
bath (baaaa)
what's that?
bottle (baba)
papa (for my dad)
boo!
awww!
no
doodie
hi
bye bye
dance

his favorite saying that he repeats constantly is "ooooohh wowwww!" He can also count to three (minus the one!) If someone says ONE.... he will say "twoooo...trheerrreee" :-)

He is wild and crazy (& sweet)

and he is not too sure about the snow
