bumble bee

We took Emerick to the old graveyard in our neighborhood to get some pre-halloween photos of him in this bumblebee costume. The costume was first cousin Aaron's, and then Grace's, and now Emerick is wearing it. It will be interesting to see how many more little cousins wear this costume in the years to come!

hello?

This is Emerick's latest.

He has a couple of our old cell phones, and this old remote control that he plays with. About a week ago when Grammy and PaPa were watching Emerick he started to pick them up and "talk" on the phone!

toupe

Today at the post office some lady asked me "how old is she". Emerick was sitting in his stroller as we were waiting in line, wearing ALL BLUE of course. I replied "He is a boy, and he is one." She said she was sorry and that he was so pretty he could be a girl, and then commented on his beautiful hair. He really does have nice hair, and we get comments about his hair wherever we go. About how much he has, how nice and straight it is, with curly tips. How shiny it is, and how nice it "lays" Emerick has actually been mistaken for a girl several times, but only within the last few months. Also, his hair has really grown in these past few months, so I guess that is why.

Anywhoo, I was playing around with his hair tonight, and took some photos. It looks wild, and like a fake piece of hair!!! I am still laughing.

autumn walk

Just as quickly as the leaves have turned from green to various shades of oranges, yellows and reds, our sweet baby has turned into this:

His baby-ness is quickly disappearing, and so I brought my camera along on a cool autumn walk to document the big boy riding his first bike.

mr. bones - one year later & a visit to the Pumpkin Patch

2008

2009

with his auntie mantha

For the past two weeks my sister Samantha, friend Megan, and Megan's Mom (my Godmother) Maryjane were visiting from California and Colorado. On Sunday we took Emerick to the Pumpkin Farm and had a great time. This Pumpkin Farm is nothing like the places in California! There was a corn maze, petting zoo, hay ride to the patch, and the best little train ride ever, with the most adorable engineer! We packed our lunch and had a picnic. Emerick had a great time, but mostly he just enjoyed watching the wheels on the tractor everytime it drove by. The face he is making in the above photo with Auntie Mantha, was his expression everytime the tractor went by. It just happened to drive by as I was snapping the photo and I am happy that I got his expression.

Autumn

I am so happy for fall! I love everything about it, especially Halloween. Having a son born in October has given me a new found love for a 'holiday' I used to think nothing about. I love dressing Emerick in all of the cute Halloween outfits, taking him to the Pumpkin Patch, and everything else. Today my sister, Megan, and I took Emerick for a mini photo sesh, because he looked so cute in his bones hoodie.

At first he was not happy :)

12 months

On Tuesday I took Emerick for his 1 year checkup. We waited in the waiting room too long for a busy 1 year old, and then waited even longer in the exam room. Emerick was getting very antsy. Then he had to have his finger pricked, twice. (lead testing) That was not fun. It took the nurse 10 loooong minutes to collect blood from his little finger, and then she had to prick his other finger to finish collecting enough blood to fill the tube. That was torture for Emerick. He cried so hard, and was drenched in sweat by the time it was over. Other than that, he is fine. No concerns, and he is progressing just as he should for his age. The Dr. thinks he will walk "any day", but I am predicting he will not walk for another couple of months.
Emerick's latest: "Whassat?" (what's that?) as he points to everything.
One Year stats:
25.4 lbs (lost a bit being sick) - 85%
30 1/4 inches - 70%
HC-47.6 - 85%
My sister took these pictures in the waiting room/exam room at his appointment...

Here are some snapshots from Emerick's first birthday.

We had lunch downtown Havre de Grace with Great-Godmama Jane, Auntie Megan, Auntie Mantha, and Grammy. It was lots of fun, and so good that they could all be here for Emerick's big day! We took lots of pictures, and Emerick ate cake.

Dinner time was Mommy and Daddy's time with Emerick. We ate yummy Italian food, and Emerick ate some more cake. We sang "happy birthday" to him, and he clapped. Since his birthday we have not stopped singing "happy birthday" beacuse he loves it, and every time we sing he claps during the whole song!

After dinner, we let Emerick open a present. A truck, of course!
